I just wish that all pre-'65 films, animation or otherwise, were put in the hands of Mr. Nor is the fact that the new head of animation declares these too costly, timely and laborsome to bother with. I was completely overjoyed with this year's Huck and Yogi sets, but save for these and their Looney Tunes Collections, their animation department seems entirely mismanaged.

I think WHV needs to reassess the management of their animation department because they seem to be utterly confused with how to handle many of these properties. I was hoping to at least collect seasons of Quickdraw, Wally Gator, The Magilla Gorilla Show and Secret Squirrel & Atom Ant! I was also hoping for season sets of Hong Kong Phooey and Captain Caveman. but from what is described at tvshowsondvd, it does not appear to be the scenario! I'm as excitd for Animaniacs, Tiny Toons and Pinky & The Brain as the next guy, I'd be completely satisfied if we were told that these were being postponed due to the ammount of effort and time involved in bringing us quality presentation. What about the follow-up seasons of Hucklberry Hound? Once a week, we called me from the phone in the hotel lobby and we'd talk through the script. So I would send him assignments via fax to a tiny hotel that was in the village where he lived. He also said he wanted to keep writing scripts. George moved to Mexico in the early 90's.said he could live like a king there.

He had a knack for creating instantly odd and funny incidental characters with just a simple line or two in the script. He wrote scripts for me on 'Scooby,' among other shows. Perhaps more than anyone I ever met, George could make me laugh within seconds of walking in the door, sometimes with just a glance, but often with an anecdote or story that would leave listeners weeping with laughter. In fact, George wrote virtually all of 'The Fractured Fairy Tales' segments. I never had the chance to work for Jay Ward on Rocky and Bullwinkle or on any of his other productions.īut during my days at Hanna-Barbera, one of my favorite collaborators was a writer named George Atkins, who was not only one of the funniest people I ever met in my life, but who also had been the scriptwriter for a huge share of the Rocky and Bullwinkle cartoons.
